Product Description
Guitar Hero 5 Game Only - Guitar Controller Required To Play The game that started the modern music phenomenon is back, with more songs, more bands and more party game action. Just like Guitar Hero: World Tour you can play as a whole band with your friends, with lead guitar, bass, drums and vocals all working together in the same song. What's new for Guitar Hero 5 though is that anyone can play any combination of instruments, so you can have four lead guitars if you want or even swap roles mid song. As a result each individual has their own Star Power meter and it's up to the best players to save others if things go wrong. To encourage even more co-operation there's also the new Band Moments bonus, which doles out big rewards if every member of the team can complete a section together. With the RockFest feature adding tons of new game modes as well this is the best value Guitar Hero yet. - Monster of rock: The biggest Guitar Hero yet with new ways to play, new rewards and the biggest line-up of master recordings ever seen.
- Jam with the band: Party Play option lets players join or leave a song whenever they want, or even change instruments or difficultly level mid-song.
- Rock festival: New game modes including Momentum, which changes the difficultly as you play, and Elimination, where the weakest link player is dropped if they mess up.
- Special moments: New "Band Moments" offer big rewards if everyone can co-operate for a set stretch of rock perfection.
- Hall of fame: A record-breaking 85 songs by 83 different artists, including The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and more.
- In the all-new Party Play mode, players can now jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly, without interrupting their jam session
- Play with any in-game instrument combination in any game mode - multiple vocalists

Wii version superior? September 13, 2009 R. Earl (Bournemouth, UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Yes as hard as might seem to believe, the Wii version of a multi-format release it actually BETTER than the XBOX360 and PS3 versions. I won't talk much about the actual game here, there are plenty of reviews already talking about that, there are a few new features that really add to the package. But the best new feature is actually a Wii exclusive, and it's fantastic. To play, you need 2 guitars and 2 Nintendo DS consoles. Here, you play a competitive team game with each team comprised of a guitarist and a "roadie", controlled using the DS. The Roadie can run over the other side of the stage to the competing guitar player and really start to mess things up for them. They can break the amps, mess with the sound board or, the most feared option, reverse the players strings. It's then up to that players own roadie to try and fix all these problems, that is, if they're not already messing up the competition. It might sound complex but it isn't. It brings about hysteria and shouting at each other.
"Quick! Fix my strings , fix my strings!"
"OK, OK! In a sec, I'm just sabotaging their amps!"
"On no! Now I'm on fire too! Hurry up!"
All of which is utterly hilarious.
This Wii release may not have the slick graphics of the higher spec versions, but it does have "Roadie Battle" mode, and thanks to some ingenuity at Vicarious Visions (the developer), it has ALL the online functionality of it's next gen cousins. (it's worth mentioning the online modes as they do away with any additional friend codes, and you can join any game online with the press of a button)
If only all Wii conversions were as complete as this.
Just below Guitar Hero 3 November 8, 2009 Nathaniel Shepley (Surrey, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I Myself was very skeptical when I heard that within the space of 6 months they where releasing another guitar hero but I must say This is by far the best guitar hero game released since guitar hero 3.
The graphics have been improved vastly, the developers finally realising that the Wii does have potential whilst they may be below the 360 or PS3 they certainly look better than a PS2. The new interface is very slick and you can build playlists and save them for future playing.
The new modes are also very good aswell, party play is of course the main new one and you can add up to 500 songs and they continously play and they can drop in and out with no problem ive had a few parties and its very smooth even if no one is playing there is music still in the background. There is also the roadie battle exclusive to the wii in which you hook up your ds and play against your mates trying to sabotage their gear which is great fun and there is also Freestyle which is also improved and I can actually sit down and enjoy it now.
The song list is also amazing with classics such as Dire Straights, Jeff Beck, Nirvana, Children of Bodom plus more. Of course with a setlist that big your not going to like every song but I think it appeals to everyone.
My only issue is that its alot easier than previous guitar heroes and that fact that there is no Metallica or System of a Down and the Megadeth song was a bit sub par
Besides from these small gripes I would say this is the best Guitar Hero game to include drums and a mic

I like all the songs on this game, there is a wider variety than other GH games; something for everyone :)
The DS function (making music videos from your DS while playing one, two or three instruments) is new and innotive!
Anti fail mode = also very helpful if you'd like to play through a song as a band and just get percentages not get 'boo-ed' off at the tricky solo in the middle.
I think this has more customizable options than GH4, choosing your character, customizing your instruments more freely etc.
Need I go on? This is a brill game to play alone or with a group - Highly recommended by moi especially if you liked previous GH's but didn't recognise some of the 'rockier' songs :]
Guitar Hero 5...Great Game October 10, 2009 G. Clarke (Scotland, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just had to get this game. I have all the other Guitar Hero games and spend hours of fun with friends rocking to the classics. This game didn't dissappoint, If it is at all possible to better previous Guitar Hero games this one has with the option to play with 4 guitars together so more of your friends can play along. Highly recommended.
Guitar Hero Fun Fun Fun! October 13, 2009 G. Wright (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I already had the full kit from Guitar hero world tour, was not disappointed with the new game, great new songs and some more improvements over the previous version. Had a bit of trouble getting the online shop to down load extra tracks, might be because the game was still new and it wasn't up and running properly. If you like the other Guitar Hero Games this one is a must.
