Excitebike 64 is actually a motocross simulator, which for the uninitiated means that instead of driving around boring circuit tracks grazing your knees you get to drive up mountains and across sand dunes, thereby putting considerably more body parts at risk and having a lot more fun while you're at it.
The courses alternate between interior tracks and some truly impressive outdoor ones. But if you don't like any of that you could always create your own using the track editor. The game also contains some excellent bonus courses for you to unlock including a randomly generated desert race, a Tony Hawk's-esque stunt course, two versions of the original NES version of Excitebike and a game of motorbike football. With all that plus one of the best multiplayer modes ever, this is yet another N64 must-have. --David Jenkins
