Product Description

PES 2009 is the latest installment of the award-winning Pro Evolution Soccer Series, which is known by millions of fans for its superior gameplay and incredible realism. For PES 2009, Konami is already planning a raft of extensive new additions that will further bridge the gap between PES and the real thing. The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts. Similarly, all-new options allow users to tailor the game to their own tastes, while new moves, innovative new control elements and key online elements will further the realism of the new game.

  • New player models, AI elements and physics routines
  • 'Become a Legend' mode - Start your career as a rookie midfielder or striker and work your way through the ranks to become a pro. Play in your favourite attacking position and work as part of a team, as opposed to controlling every player.
  • 'Legends' online mode - Use your saved 'Become a Legend' player in online matches with like-minded friends, and show off your skills on the larger online stage.
  • Redefined intricacies of first touch, close control and ball distribution
  • Enhanced shooting and AI mechanisms
  • The new control system makes full use the D-Pad and analogue stick to perform contextual tricks and feints within the players run.
  • Weather, air resistance and ground friction all have an affect on the balls motion - alter your play to match the conditions just like in real-life.
  • Teamvision AI has been extended allowing computer controlled team mates to adapt their tactics more realistically.
  • A reworked Master League means a players' loyalty and mood now affects their performance on the pitch.
  • Enhanced realism through aesthetic updates, including stadium environments and atmosphere.

5 out of 5 stars The Two Combined   October 19, 2008

I am a huge fan of football games... in my early years I would go for the Fifa games because of the superior licenses etc. This all changed when I bought PES 6 a few years back. In my opinion that was the base for the best footballing series in the world. The fluency of the gameplay was unbelievably good compared to the shaky, stuttery gameplay of Fifa. I loved that game so much I didn't buy the next installment after hearing some negative reviews. But after I upgraded to a PS3 - I needed a football game and here we go again. PES or Fifa? I decided PES and was not disappointed. PES 09 combines the fluency of the gameplay with the realism of Fifa. Unfortunately it still lacks licenses but who cares? This is a brilliant game that combines the best parts of the two biggest football game series.

5 out of 5 stars Fifa 09 can kiss my PES   September 21, 2009

A huge improvement on the 2008 version. Granted there are still some niggling issues with the passing and unnecessary slide tackling by the computer, however, as a game which you can play with your mates from 10pm till 6am it is huge fun. Just like a game is supposed to be!

The master league is as good as always and the champions league mode adds a touch of class to an already excellent game. Plus it has full Liverpool licensing!!! (Come on the Kop)

Looking forward to PES 2010!

5 out of 5 stars PS3 - Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 - good online mode?   February 17, 2009

Hello,

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 has a wonderful graphic engine and it really makes fun to play it, because you have lots of possibilitys to make a great goal.
Ball-physics has been improved and is very good.
How you will know, PES has problems with licences, but as long as you know google there are allways some freaks who spend a lot of time to create the real teams with their clothes and their faces. So to me this is no longer a problem.

I have played over 200 online matches, but i allways have to quit the game after you played a little bit, beacause you get damned angry. This game still has huge problems with the online mode. There are many people who have a very bad connection but still are allowed to play with you. Consequently you can see the ball for several seconds everywhere and at the same time nowhere. This means it is impossible to play.
Thats what Konami has too improve for the next years.

All in all its a very good game with problems in its online mode.

Have fun with the game!
