Amazon.co.uk Preview There cannot be a Spidey fan alive that hasn't seen the stunning movie trailer for the new film, but rather less is known about the accompanying game. It will feature a free roaming environment similar to the previous games though, which is no surprise considering how popular they are and how most subsequent superhero games have reused the same concept. It's also known that almost the entire movie cast will be lending their vocal talents to the game, including Tobey Mcguire, Kirsten Dunst, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, Topher Grace and Bryce Dallas Howard. The main villains of the game will, like the movie, be Sandman, Venom and the new Green Goblin. However several other minor Spider-Man villains will also appear from the comics, including Shriek and the mysterious Dragon Boss. More information will undoubtedly show up as the movie's release date grow closer but a teaser trailer of the in-game graphics for Spidey himself suggest that this will be one of the most impressive next gen movies license so far. Along came the spider May 8, 2007 Benjamin J. Raddon (Swindon, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This has got all the main things you would and should expect from a spiderman game, this is the best ive played so far and ive played most of them, anyone who may have given it a bad rating is obviously too picky about things, just swinging around the city is awesome, and the city looks great at night or day time, one of the first things i did was jump off the empire state building.
the music fits the mood in most places, really good graphics, go anywhere you want straight away, getting bored of it?...come on, theres plenty to do, (been down to the sewer yet?)
plenty of bad guys for you to improve, and test your skills on.
when you have the black suit, that's when you can make things really 'dark' for any bad guys, pardon the pun.
this is a really good spiderman game that finally has the web swinging physics that make spiderman what he's all about, there's way better control when you swing around as well, even if your not a spiderman fan, this definitely shouldn't disappoint, there's a lot to do and learn and as i said, if you don't want to do much, just swinging around the city and try improving your swinging technique to go fast and get more fluid with it, impress people on the street is great, you can spend a few hours just doing that alone.
good swinging physics: check
black suit that makes you way more powerful: check
huge city to go anywhere straight away: check
boredom?: go jump off the empire state building, and don't shoot a webline until your right near the pavement by a few inches
plenty of bosses, bad guys, and story lines for you to improve your skills on: check
seriously, get this game, and if there are maybe, 'maybe' one or two things in the game that aren't great, come on, give the developers some slack, is still a great game
Great Fun May 7, 2007 F. Hasson (ireland) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As a next Gen game it's not out of this world BUT looks and plays great never the less. The controls are a little sharp so take your time. Some reviews say this game has been rushed... maybe.. but it's still great fun... Loads to see ,do and swing on and plenty of things and people to fight. If your a fan of the first games you will enjoy this. Never played the other games? i say give it a go.
you can pretty much do whatever a spider can!! May 5, 2007 Mr. A. Nash (United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i have been looking forward to this game for so long as i am a massive fan of the comics and the films and what can i say, swinging through the streets of new york between cars and buildings has never been so much fun and the scale of the city is impressive. you can spend hours just exploring the subways(with trains), sewers and streets (there are also some buildings that are open.)
i loved the second game and i think this blows it out of the water by improving everything from graphics to gameplay. the random crimes are far better than the second and they can be anything from you following police cars to a crime to protecting the general public from muggers. the police even help out in fights(they don't do much but it is nice to see they do something). the combat does feel smoother as well but there are usually so many enemies it can result in button bashing.
the game is not without its faults. firstly no matter how fun the random cries are they can get slightly repetitive but this doesn't really distract from the fun. secondly as another reviewer stated there are a few graphical glitches. somethimes spidey does seem to hold on to nothing and ocassionally enemies do get stuck in the scenery but this is few and far between. none of the faults really effect gameplay that much and it is not often you will notice them.
overall this is the closest representation to actually being the webslinger himself that has been created. if you are looking for a fun and ingaging game that has lots playability and a long in depth story then this is the game for you. i can see myself playing this for months possibly even years to come (until the next game comes out that is)
i would rate the fun 5/5 stars, gameplay 4.5/5 stars, the story(in fact there are ten storylines) 5/5 stars
overall i would say this is one of the best games on the 360 at the moment 5/5
As close as your gonna get! October 9, 2009 Mr. Sm Bremer Great game, its as close as im going to get to being Spiderman. A lot of fun, just kills the hours!
Wow! May 5, 2007 L. Elmes 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I thought Spiderman 2 was great, but now I've played this.
Spiderman 2 had good graphics, but the cars in spiderman 3 particular are much better. Spiderman 2 got quite repeatitive after a while, with the same missions, over and over, but again, this has improved dramatically. From disarming bombs to taking photo's, theres a range of missions to NOT get bored of. And instead of just having to press a single button to disarm a bomb, theres about 4 small maze type layers you have to complete in the time limit, so it's more realistic as well.
If your not a great fan of the films or comics, I'd recommend this game anyway. I've only seen the second film, and that was after I got the second game, but still I find these games fantastic, they just get better and better.
Only one criticism: You can't get IN the trains on the subway, only on top.
